Egerton was born and raised in Belleville, Ontario. He graduated from Loyalist College of Applied Arts and Technology with a diploma in Law and Security, and is employed as a Youth Worker in an Open Custody/Observation Facility for Young Offenders. Egerton was first elected as a Councillor for the City of Belleville in 2003 and continues to serve the City in that capacity. He has chaired or participated in a number of municipal committees, including social services, long-term care, emergency medical services, and emergency preparedness. Egerton joined the Board of Health in January, 2015 as a representative of the City of Belleville.
