When is the contest?

The contest is taking place between January 31, 2020 – February 14, 2020. Winners will be selected on February 14, 2020!

What could I win?

By staying smoke or vape free for two weeks or more, participants could win one of three $250 gift cards!

When do I need to register?

Register by January 31, 2020.

Who is eligible to participate?

This contest is open to residents of Hastings and Prince Edward Counties who have used tobacco products or vaped nicotine products a month prior to registration (more details below).

How does the contest work?

There are two quit smoking and one quit vaping categories for participants.

Quit Smoking Category – 29 and under:  Contestants in this category must meet general eligibility criteria and have used commercial tobacco (defined as cigarettes, cigarillos, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco, snuff and/or snus) at least every other day in the month prior to the contest registration, have quit smoking on or before January 31, 2020, and maintained their quit status until the contest ends on February 14, 2020.  When winners are drawn, their non-smoking status will be verified by a CO monitor test.

Quit Smoking Category – 30 and over: Same as above, but for individuals age 30+.

Quit Vaping Category:  Contestants of any age must meet general eligibility criteria and have vaped nicotine products for at least one month prior to contest registration, have quit vaping on or before January 31, 2020 and maintained their quit status until the contest ends on February 14, 2020.

How are winners selected?

Winners for all 3 categories will be selected by random draw.  When winners are drawn, their non-smoking status will be verified by CO monitor test.

What supports are available to help me quit?

HPEPH “We Can Quit” Clinics.

HPEPH offers weekly “We Can Quit” Clinics, where quit coaching and low cost Nicotine Replacement Therapy is available.  Some medical information does need to be provided in order for medications to be dispensed. Check out our calendar or see the schedule of “We Can Quit” Clinics below.

  • Belleville:  Wednesdays – 9am to 1pm (drop-in) – 179 North Park St., Belleville
  • Quinte West:  Thursdays – 9am to 11am (drop-in) – 499 Dundas St. W., Trenton
  • Center Hastings:  Fridays – 9-12 (drop-in) Gateway CHC – 41 McLellan St., Tweed
  • Bancroft: every other Thursday – 1pm-4pm – 1P Manor Lane, Bancroft

Primary Care Providers

If your Primary Care Provider is a member of a Family Health Team, Community Health Center, or Nurse Practitioner Led Clinic contact their offices for information on supports they provide.
