Reopening a Seasonal Food Premises

If you are the owner/operator of a seasonal food premises, please note that it is a regulatory requirement to provide our office with notification at least 30 days prior to reopening for the season, in accordance with the Health Protection and Promotion Act (HPPA).

“Every person who intends to commence to operate a food premise shall give notice of the person’s intention to the medical office of health of the health unit in which the food premise will be located.  R.S.O. 1990, c.H7, s. 16(2).”

  1. Complete the online Notification to Reopen a Season Food Premises form or print the Notification form and submit by email to info@hpeph.ca.
  2. Submit completed form to Hastings Prince Edward Public Health at least 30 days prior to reopening for the season.  Upon receipt, your area public health inspector will contact you to book an appointment/site visit.

If you are concerned about potential exposure to a positive case of COVID-19, please be reassured that any contacts of a confirmed case will be contacted directly and monitored by public health.

Low-risk and indirect contacts should self monitor for symptoms for 14 days from the time of potential exposure and seek testing if symptoms develop. Low risk contacts do not need to isolate unless symptoms develop, and can continue to attend school/work/daycare while monitoring for symptoms.
