Media Release: Appointments will be required for all COVID-19 vaccinations at Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre

Hastings and Prince Edward Counties/ Nov. 26, 2021 – Beginning Monday, November 29, appointments will be required for all COVID-19 vaccinations at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre (QSWC). Appointments can be booked directly at covid-19.ontario.ca/book-vaccine.

Walk-in appointments will still be available in Bancroft and Picton. Please visit the booking page at hpepublichealth.ca/vaccine-booking/ for availability.

Over the past few months, walk-in appointments have been accepted for first and second doses of the vaccine at the QSWC. However, with 5-11 year olds now eligible for the vaccine, and many adults becoming eligible for booster doses in the coming months, an increased volume of individuals is anticipated over the next several months. Booking an appointment will ensure that residents avoid unnecessary wait times while getting their vaccine, while supporting efficient use of public health resources by managing client flow.

During the month of December, HPEPH will be holding dedicated clinics for children aged 5-11, Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, clinics will be dedicated to individuals 12 and older eligible for first, second, and booster shots, including those 70+ and eligible health care workers. Appointments for these clinics must be booked at covid-19.ontario.ca/book-vaccine. Please note that only clinics for which you are eligible will be visible when logging in to the provincial booking system.

Getting fully vaccinated is the best thing individuals can do to protect themselves, and those around them, from the serious effects of COVID-19. Cases of the virus continue to increase in the region, reinforcing the need for everyone who is eligible to get fully vaccinated as soon as possible. While break through cases of the virus do occur (when an individual who is fully vaccinated tests positive), these individuals typically experience mild symptoms, or no symptoms at all.

If you or your child are eligible for the vaccine, book an appointment at covid-19.ontario.ca/book-vaccine.
